Pictures from Odisea Villa Mojácar Playa

Mojácar playa seems to be composed mainly of holiday homes, many of which are pretty impressive like the Odisea (although the owner had removed the advertised WiFi which was pretty naughty). There is a strong English community living here also, but well... Mojácar Pueblo, which has been there since the Bronze age and was not founded by Brits, is about a mile and a half inland and also an all important 600 feet plus higher if you are on a bike. Bordered by mountains an impressive plain and the sea there is a great view from the Mirador del Castillo. There is also a market in the Plaza Rey Alabez on a Wednesday. We were there in early April and the weather was very good (up to 28 deg C). We had a bit of bad luck when we got back but so it goes.

Inside

Jacuzzi

Our own lemon tree, going to have that in a G&T

The Iguana

Beware of the snake (and the little Buddha)

Problem with bike (tyre is damaged haven't been able to get a new one.

The beach is mobbed out.

Like the bike tired out.

It's warm once you're in, honest.

No tyre, no ride.

Yipee! found a bike shop, needed google earth to find it (hidden in a gym).

Cycled up to the end of our road (700 feet above us)

Ready to come back down again (brakes on fire)

This garden has a pretty good view.

An Englishman's home is his wotsit, this bloke must have wanted a big wotsit.

This last little climb to our gate can be tricksy after a fine lunch..

Breakfast

The Isabella, best lamb chops to be had.

Portofino takes prawn cocktail to a new level

The Viva very nice omelette

The Olivio, favourite so far, Venison stew, rib-eye steak and a great bacon croissant for breakfast

Nice cycle track along the front, next to a path for pedestrians, although quite a lot
of people don't understand the theory even though there are bloody great big bike
markings every 20 metres or so.

Looking along the main drag near Playa del Cantal.

The river

Much further along the river ravine, saw a snake a frog and a lizard.

The far end of the cycle track, with the Pocket Llama in all its glory.

Haven't eaten here, but I'm sure that it's everything that you would expect.

The Cowboy Cocina's world famous slogan 'We don't do Voodoo we do do
Barbecue'

Well I said that there were a few Brits about

yeah right

Local humour, el jefe insists that it is correct at least once a year.

It is possible to find cyclable tracks from the back of Mojacar Playa.

Best one I found was from the end of Caille Picasso

It is possible to cycle from Mojácar Playa to Mojácar Pueblo without going on the road and the Bike Friday Pocket Llama is pretty rugged, holding up even under
my weight.

Mojácar Pueblo

Mojácar Pueblo

Mirador

View from the Mirador del Castillo of the plain.

Plaza Nueva Mojácar Pueblo.

Odisea pool by night

More Odisea pool by night.

A bird that came to drink at the pool, same time every day. No call from
David Attenborough yet.

Olivio

Big Dog. This tee shirt wards off the local canines.

King prawns at the Portofino

If I don't get the hang of this soon, we're going to be here all night.

Macenas Playa looking toward Mojacar

One of the four quarter inch thorns that I picked up in the front tyre at Macenas and
two more in the rear. All went into the tube, but the green mark on the tyre is
sealant from the puncture-proof tubes that worked really well. Front was a bit
squishy, but the back hardly deflated at all.

Llama back in its case ready to go home.

monkfish of the yard

Very good Monkfish speciality of the house (restaurant was called the Albatros,
probably not a good omen).

bastard

Someone deciced to run into the car whilst we were away.

no power

The power had tripped out in the house a week before we got back, the only thing that could be saved from the freezer was a piece of cheescake.
